You know, the Clash wrote one of their best, if lesser-known, songs for CRUISING, "Somebody Got Murdered." Nitzsche asked them to do it, they did it, but apparently he never called back. Oh well.

Funny Will as that is actually one of my favorite Clash songs but I have never heard that story. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for all the great CRUISING images and sounds, Jeremy. It's worth noting that a good chunk of the music used as score is actually Barre Phillips' THREE DAY MOON. To give you an idea, the track used as the opening music when we the see schooner in the East River, is from THREE DAY MOON. This haunting, menacing music is used in several key moments throughout the film.

THREE DAY MOON was written and released in 1978...the music that Jack Nitzsche composed for the film melds very well with the Phillips material, so much so that most people assume all of the music is written by Nitzsche.
